Half of the stuff they sell is healthy but can be bought at some place like Natural Grocers, and the other half isn't even healthy. It's full of sugar and other unhealthy additives just like anywhere else.
Greedy, overpriced "health food" store. Go to Natural Grocers or somewhere else to get natural food. This store's prices are insane, and the fact that people have the attitude at this point that this is a "small business", that's "locally owned" is even more insane. The people running this are getting rich off of overpriced nonsense.
For example USA Pans which are more expensive than crappy baking pans, but worth the price since they are made in the USA and bake things extremely well; they are so good that they are heavy duty and used commercially. For example USA Pans would likely last you your entire life! Go check them out in the back.
The only thing worth seeing in this store is the place in the back that sells kitchenware, and bakeware. I'm not sure if this is owned by the same company, or leased out to someone? In all cases, many of the products they sell back there are good quality for your kitchen.
I always feel good going here. Staff truly makes an effort to assist and owners are socially responsive and ecologically conscious. There is always room for improvement but overall this store does so much right. Best tip: Buy in bulk to save $$. The Good Food Store is truly an asset to the Missoula community and to the state of Montana as well.
Great place for healthy choices. Wonderful produce department. Fantastic selection in bulk department. Grocery aisles and supplements have a good variety to choose from. Great place for lunch. Deli section with wholesome soups and a salad bar or hot dishes or cold sandwiches. Worth checking out.
I actually wish that there was a 0 star rating. This is not the first time that I have encountered experiences like this at the store. I may have had one good experience. Today I came in with my daughter no makeup on and my hair thrown up in a bun. Looking for supplements and Vitamins because I would like to try cleansing and detoxifying my body every once in awhile. I wasn't sure exactly what I was looking for but had a good idea after some research online. As I walked down the aisles I felt that I could not even pick up a bottle without somebody standing next to me or right around the corner staring at me. I felt judged and like I was a criminal because I was in my pajamas after not getting much sleep sharing my infant daughter with me and looking for ways to make myself healthier. I have always thought that people working in these positions would be very kind and helpful. I felt like I was in the wrong place and like this wasn't for me. I didn't have the look that I was supposed to and I was judged immediately upon walking in. There are much better places in this town to buy from. The good food store is not the only option and I would highly recommend researching what you need and where else you can get it. Almost everything I saw there that I would have liked to get I passed on and decided that I would order it online and get it for nearly half the price same brand and same amount of pill count. Not a place I will ever shop again.
I have been a dedicated Good Food Store fan for sometime. While they are pricey and Natural Grocers has better prices (and nicer employees), Good Food Store has some items I would stop in for and I enjoyed looking around. The issue for me came on July 11, 2017 when I stumbled from a crumpled mat on the floor. I flew right into a grocery cart where a baby sat (who was fine, I am told) and proceeded to cut my hand open, damage soft tissue and broke my opposite wrist. Now, accidents happen it is what followed which made me decide not to purchase from Good Food Store any more. When I went back in to suggest they make another choice in mats to protect other customers, they basically told me they were sorry and for me to take care of myself. They offered nothing more and were really rude and unwilling to speak with me any further. Since then, I have learned that this non-profit is actually run by the Evangelical Covenant Church of America! What? A church and they are this unkind and this uncaring? I have also checked and I am not the only person with my particular type of experience with them. CONSIDER YOURSELF FOREWARNED: Visit this business at your own risk and if anything happens, don't expect anyone to be kind or Christian-like about your issue. They are not kind, loving people. They want to make money and will be more than happy to pay what it costs to make sure they provide you with absolutely nothing - mentally, spiritually, emotionally or fiscally.
