If I could rate with 0 stars, I surely would. I had the most horrible experience with this dentist years ago. I'm very surprised he still has a license to practice dentistry. I went to this practice because we hadn't lived in Missoula very long and I needed to find a dentist for a painful tooth. I chose this particular dentist because he was supposedly good with patients who had dental anxiety. He didn't give me enough novacaine, and I repeatedly told him that I was in pain. He actually told me to be quiet, and then proceeded to say the pain was all in my head! I wish I would have reported him at the time. I never went back. I would never recommend this dentist to anyone.
I think Dr Whalen is an artist. I have moved about the country and great deal, and have therefore seen many dentists. Dr. Whalen greatly lives up to his name as the gentle dentist and does beautiful work. In a few moments he fixed issues with my teeth that had been problems for many years. One of the finest dentists I have ever had the good fortune to be treated by.
What an incredibly bad experience. This dentist should not be practicing any further. He argues with his patients and blames other dentists for any problem. After over 25 years as a patient I will never go back. This dentist has serious personal issues. If I could have rated him a zero I would have.

This was the most disturbing event I have had in my adult life. I wish I would have read the reviews before coming to this office. I wouldn't let this dentist put a flaming hot 'something' on my tooth and was discarded from his office. I didn't have my glasses and couldn't see what he was doing. I mentioned ANXIETY as a top medical issue in my paperwork and made sure that the entire office was well aware of my severe mentally disabling condition before anyone started anything. All I wanted, is to know what was going into my body before he proceeded. I left crying, I am still crying, as this just happened 20 minutes ago. I would not recommend this practice. I want an apology. That was the MOST unprofessional experience of my life. Thanks DOC.
