I have serious concerns about their handling of credit cards, also. Pretzel Place was actually one of the first in Missoula to use EMV (chip card) transactions, which ensure the card presented is genuine and not cloned. On a recent visit, they've actually disabled EMV and are swiping cards. When I messaged them about it, they said they disabled it due to speed and weren't worried about the chance of people using cloned cards for a $5 purchase. That may be true, but until there is nowhere left a cloned card can be used, there's an incentive for thieves to clone cards. I'm trying (it isn't always possible - I love Claire's and they don't have EMV yet) to avoid any shop without chip enabled. I certainly find it really bad that a shop would take a step backwards and disable chip support because they don't find a few seconds extra to be worth it to ensure the card is genuine. They get a star taken off for doing this.
This place has okay pretzels. There isn't the selection of other items that a certain well-known chain has, but the price is quite reasonable for mall pretzels which makes up for that (mall pretzels, of course, are infamously overpriced anywhere). You do need to ask how fresh they are, because when they're not busy, they're not nearly as good. They're best when just made :D
The last time I went there I ordered my usual pretzel, sauce, and soda. When I made a comment
about the pretzel not tasting "fresh" the older lady behind the counter made a snipe comment about the situation. I than asked to speak with her manager, since I was never treated this way by any of the girls, she than informed me her name was Donna, and she was the manager. I can not believe this place stooped so low to hire such scum. She grew very belligerent with me and I left without being refunded or compensated for having a stale pretzel for lunch. I do not plan on returning if I see her behind the counter.
POOR QUALITY MANAGEMENT
There is something awesome about a pretzel while at the mall. They are borderline expensive for a rudimentary snack.
I really enjoyed this place when I was buying my pretzels from the lovely young staff.
