Response to Jennifer Olson:

Marlin is also a collector who is willing sell from his collection. He understands the history of the items he has, and if you are offended by those items there is a good chance so is he. So, if you think he is not sensitive to painful histories, you are wrong; he shares in some of those painful histories.

In short, the Jem Shoppe is a must stop shop for anyone who may live in or travel through Missoula. I've enjoyed it every time I've been in and I'm always excited to go back.

So, what I am offended about is the fact that you, Jennifer Olson, would want to wash clean the pain from your own histories, and make them more consumable for the general public. You'd rather tell them to be offended, rather than allow them to be offended for themselves. Your one star review is your attempt to repress history by trying to keep people away from seeing it for themselves.

There will always be people who are book burners out there, people who are so offended by something that they don't want anyone else to see it for fear of them having a reaction to it other than being offended. The thing with that is, books, as with histories, they can never be unwritten, and you will never be able to control how they are read. That doesn't mean that the people selling those book are nefarious, or evil; sometimes the people selling the books want the readers to make up their minds on their own.

These guys are great! The family has been is business forever and they are very honest and polite. I went to their new store (C.M. Buxton Jeweler) and the stuff in there is like being in a museum. I shopped my jewelry and Rolex around all of Missoula and they beat the next highest price by $400.00! I was so happy and pleased. I will be a customer for life now!

The Jem Shoppe is bar none the best antique shop in Missoula Montana and perhaps in all of western Montana. The owner of the shop is a very honest, knowledgeable, and experienced jeweler and antique dealer. The selection of goods in the shop is seldom seen, wether you're looking for fine watches or historical documents the Jem shoppe has never failed to provide. The prices are always competitive and better prices cannot be found in western Montana, on vintage watches especially. The owner also pays top dollar for your watches, bullion, coins, and so much more.

Disgusting service, the owner told me my business was "suspicious" after fifteen seconds in his store. Completely embarrassed me in front of my wife and had no explanation for his comment other than "it just seems suspicious". I had just gotten off work and my working class attire and blue collar ways are what I'm going to attribute to his disgusting, repulsive customer service.

Marlin Buxton is of Jewish ancestry, and his father flew the P-51 Mustang against Nazi Submarines during WWII. History happened, and in the process relics were left behind. Some of these relics are offensive, they were offensive when they were made, and they remain offensive today. Marlin is a buyer, and seller of historic items that cover the full range of what history has left behind. You'll find things that make you laugh, things that make you smile, things that surprise you, and ultimately you may find things that personally offend you.

My husband and I went in to have some jewelry looked at and to possibly sell. As we wandered the small shop waiting for the appraisal, we found some really horrible items for sale. Native American 'memorabilia' that was disrespected and mocked, and lots of Nazi army photos, weaving, etc. Since I am Jewish and my husband is Native, we were sensitive to the depictions of our painful histories, and left without any exchange. The guy was nice enough, but I won't buy or sell on the bones of my family.
