I will never go back there regardless of the situation.
Cons: SUPER EXPENSIVE
I took my vehicle here a couple years ago to have this fixed. Tentatively, if this is fixed correctly the first time, you should never have to get it fixed again. This is because the default part by GMC was bad in the manufacturing, but can be replaced with a better kit and loctite so it never happens again.
Ps: the labor consisted of unscrewing 4 plugs and tightening them back up and plugging in the plug wires.
I would recommend everyone to get their repairs here. Excellent service, prices, and work.
Took my vehicle there for a lower intake manifold gasket repair in my Buick. The Buick Century family of cars in this generation are infamous for this one quirk that causes coolant to leak.
After this event, I had to have work done on my car for some loud noises while steering. A different shop (dealer I bought the car from) went as far as replacing the steering shaft, a wheel bearing, and one other item that has since slipped my mind. This did address some issues with my car, but did not resolve the noise issue that I brought it in for. $700 and some severe frustration later, I took the car to Carl at A+ and he quickly found that the power steering fluid was low. Simply filling it up eliminated the noise.
Pros: fast service
Whether this was deliberate in hopes I would have to take it to them again later, ignorance, or negligence I'm not sure. I'm hoping it's not due to dishonesty, but instead it's due to ignorance. Either way I could never trust them to do a job again. Go elsewhere else!
I’ve known Carl personally for 10+ years and have taken my car to him multiple times for a wide range of different issues from oil changes to wheel bearings to radiator repairs. He has always been flexible and quick to get our rig in and I have never had issues with the work he has done. I’ve taken things to Jiffy Lube or Express Lube and had, literally rags left in my engine and flashlights left ON in crevices is my engine. ?!?!?!?! I always take my car to Carl and will continue to do so due to the great service I receive there.
The kit to fix this problem is relatively inexpensive, but unfortunately it's a labor-intensive job for mechanics which takes around 6 hours. For the consumer this means it's quite expensive to fix, like around 600 dollars or more!.
Cons: I was super impressed up to the point I received the bill...$114.00 for the installation of 4 spark plugs. The plugs are right on top of the engine and nothing needs to be taken apart to install them. It's a 15 minute job. I saw the parts arrive and it was done less than 10 minutes. Plugs are cheap but assuming they were $10 per plug that leaves $74 in labor or almost $300 per hour. Insane! Either that or they felt it necessary to charge me for a full hour of work.
I have always returned to A+ after these events, but never for the same issue. The work done is top notch, the staff is friendly, and I know they have saved me a lot of money. A+ will continue to always be the first place I call when anything else comes up.
It was a Friday afternoon and our car started to sputter. I had my wife and 3 day old child in the car and home was 50 miles away. APlus looked at the issue right away and deemed it was the spark plugs. It was so GREAT that they were able to look at it right away when a couple other places said I would have to wait for next week which was not an option.
I took my vehicle to a different local mechanic that I know and trust. This mechanic showed me that the job wasn't sealed with Loctite the first time, which would have saved me $600! They used the proper kit, but they failed at doing it right.
Came here the fist time when my wife's car developed a case of bad luck and needed a new engine. Carl was able to find us the best deal on a used, but good condition replacement. Price for everything seemed more than fair, and the car has ran smoother afterwards than either my wife or I could remember.
Guess what happened recently? It happened again on my vehicle when this was supposed to be fixed 3 years ago! Another almost 600 down the tubes now because these guys didn't do it right the first time.
