After all the rave reviews on this place I thought we'd finally give it a try. Expecting to be wowed but left leaving feeling let down. I ordered the pulled pork with 2 sides..one being the Mac n Cheese and the other the potato salad. The pork was nice and lean but no bold BBQ smoked flavor. Disappointed in that for sure. The Mac was bland as well but the tater salad was quite good. Service was on point and they were efficient and quick with getting the food to our table of 4. Would I make my way to eat there again..probably not.
Fast and Yummy!
Ribs were well done.
Oh yeah, I lived in the south (Alabama) for awhile and got used to BBQ Southern Style - the Notorious PIG is the closest I've found - they give you your sandwich (meat and bread), and a side....then you put on your sauce. Pretty dang authentic!
I enjoyed the pork ribs. They were the right mix of sweetness and pepper spiciness. The brisket was also good. Not too dry. Did not enjoy the slaw or the baked beans. Too sweet!
Cole slaw was fresh.
Apple sauce was yummy.
Friendly and fast service with decent if not somewhat limited BBQ options.
They charged extra for a slice of white bread and they had no butter to go with it, a bit disappointing.
Fastest food in Missoula. My wife and I went there when every other place we went to downtown had a waiting list (it was a Friday evening). We ordered....and before my wife could get our sodas, the food came out. Then, the chef/cook visited us. And they took our plates away. It seems informal, but they have the formalities of some up-scale restaurants. Great food - great service.
Next time I'll hold out for a BBQ place that serves corn bread.
I was a surprised and a little disappointed that they didn't serve corn bread which would be typical for a BBQ restaurant.
Baked beans were too sweet, my guess is they were made with corn syrup.
Overheard while here: "I would not eat meat the rest of the week, just to come here once a week and eat." True words, this is some of the best BBQ I've had, and good BBQ is something I search out every time I'm on the road. The Ribs were especially delicious, had all the right things going on, great bark, beautiful smoke lines and fall of the bone with great flavour. The burnt end sandwich is also great, and the sauces they have on the table are all unique flavours and compliment different experiences of the meat. My favourite ended up being the mustard sauce and their version of a Carolina vinegar based sauce. Amazing. The mac and cheese is worth getting here which is always a surprise, because not many places I find have a really good mac and cheese. The coleslaw is a great mix of slight creamy texture with a more vinegar base which is awesome for adding to the sandwich. The beans are stellar! And the potato egg salad was also tasty. Can't go wrong here, the staff is great and helpful with suggestions that are on point, not just an upsell, and the food is fantastic. Highly recommend!!
